What is a Residential Travel Plan?
With an ever increasing emphasis on promoting more sustainable ways to travel Travel Plans have become a requirement for the majority of developments and are now an integral part of planning submissions.
The core purpose of a Travel Plan is to provide a framework for changing travel habits. It's aim is to cultivate an environment which encourages more sustainable travel patterns benefiting residents, the local community and the environment. To help us achieve this we maintain up to date knowledge of travel plan guidance and developments in sustainable transport initiatives.
We work closely with our Clients to ensure that we produce travel plans that meet the needs of the project and achieve Local Planning Authority expectations.
The Benefits for Residents
The main benefits for residents of schemes where a travel plan has been provided have been that they can improve their health, reduce their travel costs, and help to protect the environment, by seeking to use more sustainable alternative methods of travel such as cycling, walking, trains and buses. A residential travel plan will provide residents with information on what facilities are local to them and how they can access them conveniently.
We also allow residents to feedback details of their changing travel habits via a Travel Plan Questionnaire. This information can then be used to monitor the success of the travel plan and to influence future decision making in local transport. It also provides us with the information we need to make the final Travel Plan more specific to residents requirements.
Travel Plan Websites
We have recently provided travel plan websites for residents as part of a travel pack of information. You can view and example here: AllfordCourt.co.uk
