Tully De'Ath have been awarded a 10 year Long Service Award for their participation in the Investors in People scheme. With the award Tully De'Ath join a select group of organisations that have demonstrated an ongoing dedication to people and a commitment to continuous business improvement.

Tully De'Ath are proud of their Team. We see investment in our staff as a direct investment in to the business. The Investors in People scheme helps us target our investment in training and staff development, while providing key feedback on business performace through our staff.

Final funding has been secured to build apartments in Rustington, Sussex for elderly people and those with learning difficulties. Tully De'Ath are providing Engineering Consultancy Services to Denne Construction, the building contractor. The BBC website reports on the funding:

The £11m development in Rustington will allow people to rent 63 properties independently or as a couple with 24-hour care provided on site. Abbotswood Extra Care Housing Scheme will include six flats for those with learning difficulties who are over 45. The Homes and Communities Agency has provided the scheme with the final £5m for the project to get underway.

Arun Disctrict councillor, Robin Brown, said: "It will provide not only a comfortable and secure home for residents, it will also help meet the needs of people with learning disabilities and be a valuable resource for the local community.

"The partnership's commitment to this scheme is driven by a clear need for extra care accommodation in Arun which is well-known for its high proportion of older people, yet has no purpose built extra care housing."

Arun District Council, West Sussex County Council, Saxon Weald and NHS West Sussex are all involved in the scheme with building work expected to start in April 2010.

Kent Police have granted 'Secured by Design' status to Tovil Green Court as a result of its architecture being designed to promote security. Roy Croucher, Contracts Manager for United House was presented the award by Maidstone Police on 15th December 2009. Tovil Green is part of the Kent Care PFI and one of 17 extra care and supported living apartment schemes delivered in 12 locations across the county in 2009.

Tovil Green Court, which is being developed by Housing 21 in partnership with Kent County Council and Maidstone Borough Council, will include a communal residents’ lounge, restaurant, bar, gymnasium, hairdressing salon, shop, internet cafe and landscaped gardens.

The new development is part of a £72 million Public Finance Initiative (PFI) project to deliver more homes across Kent for older people. The rented extra care apartments will provide a genuine alternative to residential care, giving tenants their own home in a communal scheme with 24 hour care and support services should they need them.

Gareth O’Sullivan – A Structural Engineer at Tully De’Ath, has taken part in the Barns Green half marathon in support of MHA.

MHA provide care homes and housing schemes for older people nationwide. They also offer Community Services projects, including Live at Home Schemes which provide befriending, activities and social support for people living in their own homes, and a number of Day Care Resource centres for people with dementia.

Gareth raised £400 for the charity with TD staff as well as family and friends sponsoring the effort. He managed to complete the course, despite the terrible weather on the day of the run. However it seems his marathon running shoes have been firmly hung up to dry, as he is still suffering from his aches and pains several days after the event!

Our congratulations go out to Gareth in completeing this Marathon event and supporting this worthwile charity. Well Done!

Tully De’Ath are pleased to welcome a few new arrivals. Jennifer Graham, Richard Francis and William Frost have all recently joined our organisation. They support our continued commitment to growth and help ensure we continue to offer the same high level of service our clients have enjoyed over the past 30 years.

Jennifer Graham has recently joined the Forest Row team as a Structural Engineer. Since graduation from the University of Bath in 2004 with a B.Eng(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering, she has gained 5 years experience at Whitbybird followed by Buro Happold, in structural design of large projects within the Commercial, Residential, Leisure and Education sectors.

Richard Francis and William Frost have joined our Draughting team. Richard joins us as a Senior Draughtsman. With an HNC in Civil Engineering and having worked previously for Waterman Structures and at Kent County Council he brings a wide range of experience to our expanding draughting department.

William has recently completed a B.Eng(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering with Business Management at the University of Birmingham. He has previously worked on summer placements with Mansell Construction and Tully De'Ath.

Tully De’Ath once again entered the Little Britain Challenge Cup (LBBC) – the primary sailing regatta for the Construction Industry and second largest regatta in Europe after Cowes Week.

LBBC’s main aim is to raise money for a variety of Charities yet it also provides an invaluable opportunity for like minded Construction Industry folk to spend some time together over a 3 day period.

This year we particularly enjoyed the event as we finished in 2nd place! With a crew of 9 and sailing a J109 over 5 races we had four 2nd and one third place finishes. Sailing in winds reaching 6 knots we experienced some fantastic sailing and great weather.

A big thank you to our guests and here’s to LBCC 2010.

Pantiles House, Merton was one of the winners at the London District Surveyors Association ‘Building Excellence Awards 2009’. The scheme was nominated by the local authority building control (L.B Merton), who had carried out the site inspections. The project was awarded ‘Best Heathcare Project'. The scheme will now go forward to the national awards which will be held in October.

The project was designed within tight planning constraints. Its location in the unique character of a garden suburb, with conservation area status, was adjacent to a Grade II listed building and there are several mature trees on the site.

The site had particularly challenging Civil Engineering requirements due to site constraints. The sites proximity to the highway and shallow existing sewers meant an unusual pumped surface water solution was required. Designing to the limited available space, our civils team overcame the obstacles to provide a system capable of dealing with a full 1 in a 100 year storm, even providing for unseen events such as pump or power failures.

Following a highly successfull tournament last year, we once again ventured onto the golden sands on Brighton's 'Yellow Wave' Beach sports centre for a few 'friendly' matches against RHP Architects and John Packer Associates.

As usual there was a great atmosphere and the food & drink flowed. Many eventful games followed and by the time the winner's sweets and loser's wooden spoons were handed out everyone was wearing a grin and wondering how to get the sand out of their shorts...

Now we're looking forward to a re-match and once again making use of this excellent facility on Brighton seafront. Many thanks to RHP for their excellent organisation of this fun event.

Lingfield Racecourse played host to great day of racing and Tully De'Ath Staff were there to enjoy the sunshine. A great day of racing was enjoyed by all those who braved the heat to place a few bets.

In the evening staff enjoyed a performance by Kylie (or someone who looked very similar!) and a spectacular firework display.

Tully De’Ath were pleased to support Breast Cancer Campaign’s 2008 ‘Dare to Wear It Pink’ day on Friday 31st October 2008.

Breast Cancer Campaign’s mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative, world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

Staff made a donation to the charity and came to work wearing pink with several accepting a dare of wearing a pink item from our lucky dip box. In total, the staff raised a sizeable donation for this worthwhile charity.
