The refurbishment and pedestrianisation of Swanley Town Centre
A Refurbishment and pedestrianisation of town centre open spaces and piazza of Swanley, Kent.
This project involved remodeling the existing ground levels, constructing surface features such as fountains and raised planters, new drainage associated with high quality paving and highway approved retaining structures.
'The project involved re-landscaping the town centre ...'
The project presented significant challenges to create a new improved re modeled surface profile including feature steps whilst working to the existing thresholds of adjacent shops.
A new drainage system consisting of eight deep bore soakaways was intricately constructed amongst a mass of services in what used to be the old A20 main road. A network of slot drains was designed to feed into the soakaway system. A series of highway approved retaining walls were constructed to help re-engineer the finished levels.
